London duo running bass through every pedal ever made — grime swagger welded to punk riffs, a two-woman wall of sound.

Nova Twins are a London duo made up of Amy Love, who sings and plays guitar, and Georgia South, who plays bass. The two have been friends since childhood, often placed on the same bills before they formed the band together in 2014. Love is of Iranian and Nigerian descent, and South of Jamaican and Australian descent.

South's bass runs through a large array of effects pedals, letting the pair generate the weight of a much larger band without a second guitarist. The arrangements often leave considerable space for rhythm alone, built from punk and heavy alternative rock crossed with grime and hip-hop phrasing.

The band released its debut single, "Bassline Bitch," in 2015, drawing the attention of independent label Robotunes and leading to a self-titled EP in 2016. They toured heavily afterward, including dates with Prophets of Rage, and later supported larger acts such as Muse, Bring Me the Horizon, Foo Fighters, Evanescence, and Lenny Kravitz.

Nova Twins have also been vocal about the position of Black women in British rock. Their debut album, Who Are the Girls?, released in 2020, won Best UK Breakthrough Band at the Heavy Music Awards. The follow-up, Supernova, arrived in 2022, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and brought two nominations at the 2023 Brit Awards. A third album, Parasites & Butterflies, followed in 2025, and the band's work has also earned a Grammy nomination.
