Panic Shack are a punk band from Cardiff, formed in 2018. The group came together with several members learning their instruments as they went, an approach that shaped their direct, unfussy songs. Their material combines scratchy guitar lines and shouted, conversational vocals with lyrics that take aim at everyday irritations and the small indignities of being spoken over, often delivered with a comic bluntness. They sing in a recognisably Welsh register and keep songs short. The band built a following through live shows around the UK before releasing recorded material, and are usually grouped with the wider strand of British punk and indie rock that emerged in the late 2010s.
