Austin's instrument-swapping all-women punk-metal wrecking crew — everyone plays everything, and it all lands at full force.

Ava Schrobilgen and Eleanor Livingston have known each other since they were three years old, and met bassist Kate Halter in middle school; drummer Chloe de St. Aubin joined later after connecting with the others online. The band's name is a misspelled version of the German word for "the pointed" or "the tip." Their 2022 debut EP, Revenge of Evangeline, quickly built a following in Austin and led to appearances at SXSW.

Vocals rotate among three of the four members across a set, while de St. Aubin and Schrobilgen also swap between drums and guitar mid-song. The band's influences range from Title Fight, Fleshwater and Deftones to Mudhoney, PJ Harvey, Nirvana and Iron Maiden, and their lyrics draw on political activism, prompting comparisons to the 1990s riot grrrl movement.

A second EP, Teeth, followed in 2023 and won an Austin Album of the Year award the next year. Die Spitz have opened tours for Amyl and the Sniffers, Off! and Sleater-Kinney, and a 2025 run of English dates drew attention from Metal Hammer magazine.

The band signed to Third Man Records in early 2025 and worked with producer Will Yip on their debut full-length album, Something to Consume, released that September, following three years of EPs and constant touring.
