Matanza Ritual is the continuation of Matanza, the Rio de Janeiro band that spent two decades bolting outlaw country imagery, whiskey, guns, bad decisions, onto hardcore punk. Jimmy London remains the frontman and lyricist, singing in Portuguese about drinking and dying with a straight face. The music keeps the hardcore tempos and distorted guitars, with the twang showing up in melody lines and song titles more than in instrumentation.
