The producer who made funk carioca sound like pop radio, and still one of its busiest hitmakers.

Dennis, often billed as Dennis DJ, is a producer and DJ from Rio de Janeiro who came up through the city's funk melody scene and then built tracks with the structure of pop singles: clean hooks, sung choruses, a beat that survives radio compression. Malandramente, cut with MC Nandinho and Nego Bam, became one of the widest-reaching funk records of the mid-2010s and pulled the sound onto national playlists. He works constantly as a collaborator, putting his production behind vocalists from both the funk world and mainstream Brazilian pop, and his sets lean on his own catalogue of features.
