Ana Frango Elétrico is the project of Ana Fainguelernt, a musician, producer and arranger from Rio de Janeiro who emerged in the late 2010s as part of a younger generation of Brazilian artists reworking MPB, samba and tropicália. The albums move between skeletal art-pop and full-band funk, with sung-spoken vocals, wandering basslines and horn and string arrangements that nod to 1970s Brazilian records without imitating them.
Beyond their own work, Fainguelernt has been active as a producer and collaborator within Rio's music scene, and also writes poetry and draws. Live, the material tends to be looser and more groove-driven than on record.
