Knocked Loose formed in Oldham County, Kentucky in 2013 and became one of the most widely heard hardcore bands of their generation. Their sound draws on metalcore and beatdown hardcore: downtuned, percussive riffing built around two-step and breakdown sections, with vocalist Bryan Garris delivering lyrics in a high, strained shriek that sits distinctly apart from the usual low growl.

The band's records grew steadily heavier and more intricate without abandoning the pit-oriented structure of their early material, and their live shows retain the compact, physical character of a hardcore set. They have drawn attention well beyond hardcore audiences, appearing on rock and metal bills and collaborating outside the genre, while continuing to work within the scene they came from.
