Sunami are a hardcore band from San Jose, California, working in the heavy, mid-paced beatdown style and connected to the wider Bay Area hardcore scene that also produced Gulch. They emerged around the turn of the 2020s, initially trading on a deliberately blunt, half-joking image, and quickly built a reputation on the strength of their live shows.
Their songs are short and riff-driven, built around breakdowns and shouted vocals, with metalcore weight in the guitar tone. A self-titled full-length followed a run of EPs and splits.
