The classic-lineup reunion long outlasted anyone's expectations, and the three-hour sets still get through most of the canon — Slash solos and all.
Guns N' Roses formed in Los Angeles in 1985, coming out of the Sunset Strip club scene with a sound that combined hard rock, punk attitude and blues-based guitar work. Appetite for Destruction, released in 1987, remains one of the best-selling debut albums in rock, and was followed by the Use Your Illusion records and the covers album The Spaghetti Incident?.
The band is built around vocalist Axl Rose, whose range runs from a low growl to a piercing upper register, and guitarist Slash, whose phrasing defined songs such as "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "November Rain". After long years of lineup changes, Rose, Slash and bassist Duff McKagan reunited in 2016 and have toured extensively since.
