Vegas post-hardcore that survived a frontman swap and a decade of scene churn intact — arena-scene hooks with a survivor's stubbornness.

Escape the Fate formed in 2004, originally out of Pahrump, Nevada, when guitarist Bryan Monte Money brought together bassist Max Green and vocalist Ronnie Radke, later adding drummer Robert Ortiz, guitarist Omar Espinosa and Carson Allen. A 2005 radio contest judged by My Chemical Romance won them a support slot on a tour with Alkaline Trio and Reggie and the Full Effect, and an EP produced by Michael Baskette led to a deal with Epitaph.

Their debut album, Dying Is Your Latest Fashion, came out in 2006 fronted by Radke, setting the template of screamed and sung vocals, twin-guitar leads and big choruses that the band has kept returning to. Espinosa left later that year, and Radke's tenure ended not long after.

In 2007 Radke was involved in an altercation in Las Vegas connected to a fatal shooting, and though he was not the shooter he faced battery charges and probation. He failed to report to his probation officer, was arrested in 2008, sentenced to two years in prison and fired from the band. Craig Mabbitt, previously of Blessthefall, took over on vocals.

This War Is Ours, Mabbitt's first album with the band, debuted at number 35 on the Billboard 200 in 2008. The self-titled 2010 album became their highest chart placement at number 25, and 2013's Ungrateful produced 'One for the Money', their biggest mainstream rock radio hit.

Signed to John Feldmann's Big Noise label, the band released Chemical Warfare in 2021 and Out of the Shadows in 2023. Guitarist Bryan Money, later Money-Ellis, remained a fixture for years, while Ortiz is now the only founding member left, playing alongside Mabbitt and guitarists Matti Hoffman and Erik Jensen.
