Anthony Green's art-punk flagship, reunited — soaring, strange, and beloved, with a fanbase that treats these songs as sacred text.

Circa Survive formed in Philadelphia in 2004 around vocalist Anthony Green, who had previously sung with Saosin, alongside guitarists Colin Frangicetto and Brendan Ekstrom, bassist Nick Beard and drummer Steve Clifford. Their debut Juturna appeared in 2005 on Equal Vision Records, followed by On Letting Go and the major-label Blue Sky Noise, released on Atlantic in 2010.

The band's sound sits between post-hardcore and progressive rock: layered, effects-heavy guitar parts and shifting time signatures under Green's high, wavering tenor and impressionistic lyrics, giving the songs a searching, unresolved feel even at their most anthemic.

After Blue Sky Noise the band went independent, releasing Violent Waves in 2012, then moved to Sumerian for Descensus in 2014 and Hopeless Records for The Amulet in 2017. They built a durable following through steady touring and anniversary shows for their early albums, keeping the same five-piece line-up for most of their existence.

Circa Survive went on indefinite hiatus in 2022, and Green confirmed in 2025 that the split had become permanent. He went on to front the rock supergroup L.S. Dunes.
