Mt. Joy
Philly folk-rockers grown into amphitheater singalongs — warm, road-tested, communal, with 'Silver Lining' as the nightly high-water mark.
Mt. Joy formed in 2016, taking its name from a landmark near Philadelphia, where singer Matt Quinn and guitarist Sam Cooper grew up; the two reconnected in Los Angeles and completed the band there. Their self-titled debut appeared in 2018 and established a sound rooted in folk-rock and Americana, with electric guitar textures and organ filling out Quinn's songs.
"Astrovan" and "Silver Lining" brought the group early attention, and steady touring has since moved them from clubs to larger outdoor venues in the United States. Later albums have widened the palette with blues-rock and psychedelic touches while keeping the melodic, singalong choruses that anchor the live show.
