The Killers
Las Vegas band who turned eyeliner and synths into stadium heartland rock. Brandon Flowers still sings 'Mr. Brightside' to crowds that know every word.
The Killers came together in Las Vegas in 2001 around Brandon Flowers on vocals and keyboards and Dave Keuning on guitar, with Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. completing the line-up. Their first album paired new wave synths and post-punk guitar with big choruses, and produced "Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me".
The follow-up moved toward Americana and wide-screen arrangements, a direction the band kept returning to, including records that deal directly with Nevada and the desert. Flowers has also released solo albums. Their shows are built around the singles, and "Mr. Brightside" is still sung back word for word.
