Cinematic Nova Scotia noir-pop — smoky, widescreen ballads with an old-Hollywood streak, torch songs delivered with movie-star poise.

Goldie Boutilier was born Kristin Kathleen Boutilier in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, and left for Los Angeles at twenty to try to make a career in music. She was discovered by OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, which led to a deal with Interscope Records under the name My Name Is Kay.

Her debut EP came out in 2011, followed by a shortened stage name, Kay, and a 2013 album, My Name Is Kay, that included features with Tiësto and Steve Aoki. Tension with the label eventually led her to leave Universal in 2015.

She moved to Paris after that, began DJing as Goldilox, and released a second album, Very Best, independently in 2018 under that name. In 2020 she adopted the name Goldie Boutilier, the one she performs under now.

As Goldie Boutilier, she draws on 1960s girl-group pop and torch balladry, wrapping slow, dramatic songs in reverb-heavy, deliberately old-fashioned production. The noir imagery and old-Hollywood styling that go with the music are part of the same project rather than styling laid on top of it.

Alongside music, Boutilier has worked steadily as a model, appearing in campaigns for Diesel Black Gold, H&M, John Galliano, Casablanca and Luisaviaroma, and is represented by an agency in Europe.
