The Cab formed in Las Vegas in 2004 and were signed to Decaydance, the Fueled by Ramen imprint run by Pete Wentz, releasing their debut through the label. The band centred on singer Alexander DeLeon, whose vocals leaned toward pop and soul phrasing rather than the more clipped delivery common to their scene peers.
Their music combined pop-punk and emo-adjacent song structures with keyboard-heavy arrangements and heavy use of vocal hooks. After a period of line-up changes the group released a second album, and DeLeon later worked as a solo artist and songwriter under the name Bohnes.
