Minus the Bear
Seattle's finger-tapping math-rock heroes, reunited — precision with a cocktail in hand, glassy tapping and grooves that sneak up dancing.
Minus the Bear formed in Seattle in 2001 from members of Botch, Kill Sadie and Sharks Keep Moving. Their sound pairs Dave Knudson's tapped, effects-heavy guitar lines with synthesizers, shifting time signatures and Jake Snider's understated vocals, landing somewhere between math rock and indie rock with a noticeably relaxed, groove-oriented feel.
Beginning with EPs and the album Highly Refined Pirates, the band released records through the 2000s and 2010s, including Menos el Oso and Planet of Ice, and became known for early song titles that read as in-jokes. They announced a farewell tour and disbanded in 2018.
