Marmozets
Yorkshire math-rock with Becca Macintyre's extraordinary range on top — angular, unpredictable, and back after a long gap with the wildness intact.
Marmozets formed in Bingley, West Yorkshire in 2006 around two sets of siblings, with Becca Macintyre on vocals. Their early material sat close to mathcore and post-hardcore, built on jagged, stop-start guitar figures and Macintyre's wide vocal range, which moves between clean melody and outright screaming. Later releases smoothed some of the edges towards alternative rock without losing the odd time signatures and abrupt shifts. The band went quiet for several years before returning to activity, and remains best known for the intensity of its live performances and for Macintyre's presence as a frontwoman.
