Calema is the duo of brothers António and Fradique Ferreira, from São Tomé and Príncipe and based in Portugal, where they built their audience. They sing in Portuguese, mostly about love, over kizomba and semba rhythms arranged for radio, with the two voices trading lines and stacking in harmony on the choruses.
Songs including "Te Amo" and "A Nossa Vez" gave them a following across the Lusophone world, from Lisbon to Angola and Brazil, and they tour widely among Portuguese-speaking communities in Europe.
