Argentine rap's teenage prodigy, folk-inflected and unusually literate for the trap generation.

Camilo Joaquín Villarruel was born on 25 October 2006 in Morón, Buenos Aires, to parents Walter Villarruel and Aldana Celeste Ríos. He began writing songs with his sister at age 11 and cut his teeth in freestyle competitions before adopting the stage name Milo J.

His songs draw on Argentine folk as much as trap, mixing acoustic guitar, charango and string arrangements with programmed drums. He favors long narrative verses over conventional hooks and sings almost as often as he raps, in a thin, close-miked voice kept low in the mix.

He began posting music in late 2021 through BajoWest, an independent urban-artist collective in Buenos Aires, uploading early songs like "Tus Vueltas," "Cuando Estas Vos" and "Tu Paz" to YouTube. Wider attention followed the 2022 single "Milagrosa," which spread through a viral TikTok trend in Argentina.

"Rara Vez" topped Spotify charts in several countries in 2023, followed by his five-track EP 511 and a performance at the La Velada del Año boxing event. His session with Bizarrap, "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 57," reached number two in Spain and number 31 on the Billboard Global 200, paired with the collaborative EP En Dormir Sin Madrid, and led into his debut album 111 later that year.

He signed with Sony Music Latin in 2025 and released his third album, La vida era más corta, drawing on Argentine folk sources including Tránsito Cocomarola, Fito Páez and Tamara Castro, plus archival recordings by Mercedes Sosa.
