Brazilian thrash unit formed in 2010, all-female and relentlessly old-school — riffs and shrieks built on the Bay Area and Teutonic canon.
Nervosa formed in São Paulo in 2010, with guitarist Prika Amaral as the constant founding presence through a series of lineup changes. The band plays fast, traditionalist thrash metal, drawing on both the Bay Area school and the German thrash of the 1980s, with shouted and rasped vocals over tremolo riffing and double-kick drumming.
The group signed to Napalm Records and has released a run of albums including Victim of Yourself, Agony, Downfall of Mankind, Perpetual Chaos and Jailbreak, touring widely in Europe and the Americas along the way. Nervosa's lineups have been international in recent years, but the band remains identified with Brazil's long-running extreme metal tradition.
