Salford's shape-shifting psych-noise commune — heavy in every sense, a collective that reinvents its sound album to album and show to show.
GNOD are a collective from Salford, active since 2006 and long associated with the Islington Mill arts space in the city. The line-up is deliberately fluid, with musicians moving in and out of the group, and the output ranges across drone, krautrock-derived repetition, industrial noise and free improvisation.
Their recordings shift considerably from one release to the next — some are long-form hypnotic pieces, others closer to blunt, distorted rock — and live performances often depart from the studio versions entirely. GNOD have released prolifically on independent labels and are known within British underground music for volume, repetition and a refusal to settle into a single style.
