Turf came together in Buenos Aires in 1995, with Joaquín Levinton writing and singing. The songs are short, guitar-driven and often funny, and a few of them, "Casanova" and "Pasos al costado" among them, became standards of Argentine rock radio. Levinton sings them in a dry, half-spoken register that sits slightly apart from the music, which is part of why the band's material has held up in singalongs decades on.
