The rediscovered visionary behind 'Keyboard Fantasies' — transcendence, gently delivered, decades after a cassette nobody heard became the classic everybody needed.

Beverly Glenn-Copeland is a composer and singer born in Philadelphia who has lived and worked in Canada for most of his life. Classically trained as a vocalist, he recorded folk and jazz-inflected albums in the early 1970s before making Keyboard Fantasies in the mid-1980s, a self-released cassette of synthesizer and drum-machine pieces recorded in rural Canada. Largely unheard at the time, the record was rediscovered decades later by collectors and reissued, bringing him an international audience in his seventies. He performs with his wife, Elizabeth Copeland, and his music draws on ambient, new age, folk and gospel-adjacent soul, usually built around his voice and unhurried, meditative arrangements.
