The closing concerts of an eleven-day residency where thirty-odd musicians in their late teens and twenties teach each other the traditional music of their home countries, then perform it as one ensemble.

Ethno USA is the American chapter of Ethno, the folk music program run by Jeunesses Musicales International. The format is the same worldwide: young musicians gather for a residency and teach one another tunes from their own traditions by ear, without sheet music, then arrange the results collectively. The repertoire in any given year depends entirely on who turns up, so a program might move between Nordic fiddle tunes, Balkan dance forms and Appalachian material, all played by the whole group.
