Supergrass
Britpop's cheekiest survivors — 'Alright' forever young, the catalog sneakily one of the era's best.
Supergrass formed in Oxford in 1993 around Gaz Coombes, Danny Goffey and Mick Quinn, later joined by Rob Coombes on keyboards. Their debut, I Should Coco, arrived in 1995 and produced 'Alright', a song whose ubiquity has tended to overshadow the rest of their work.
Across subsequent albums the band moved away from the fast, adolescent energy of the early singles toward heavier and more textured material, taking in glam, psychedelia and straightforward rock. They split in 2010 and reunited a decade later. Gaz Coombes has also released solo albums in the interim.
