German duo behind 'Phatt Bass' — hard dance with a rave-anthem streak that has aged better than it had any right to.

Warp Brothers are a German production duo formed in 1999 by DJs Oliver Goedicke and Jürgen Dohr, working across house, trance, breakbeat and electro before settling into the hard house and hard trance sound they became known for. They are best known for "Phatt Bass," a big, riff-driven club track that became a fixture of European dance floors around the turn of the millennium.

The original "Phatt Bass" was credited to Warp Brothers vs. Aquagen and built on a reconstruction of New Order's "Confusion." Early follow-ups "We Will Survive" and "Blast the Speakers" also charted, part of a run of riff-driven singles that defined the duo's early 2000s output.

Dohr left the group in 2010, and Goedicke carried the name on alone for several years before Peter Sildegren joined in 2015, keeping Warp Brothers active into a second decade.

A 2016 version of "Phatt Bass" with Wolfpack topped Beatport's charts and became one of the year's most played club and festival tracks, drawing support from Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Afrojack, David Guetta, Hardwell, W&W and Dash Berlin.

Their sound stays close to that template: pounding four-to-the-floor kicks, distorted basslines, and vocal hooks pitched at rave-sized rooms. Alongside their own productions they have worked extensively as remixers within the hard dance scene.
