Ukrainian duo whose melodic techno went from small rooms to main stages on the back of a handful of enormous records.

ARTBAT are a duo from Kyiv, Ukraine, made up of Artur Kryvenko and Vitaliy "Batish" Limarenko, whose name combines their nicknames. The pair met in a Ukrainian club in 2014 and began producing together almost immediately; within three months they had written "Mandrake," a track picked up by Richie Hawtin, who played it in his sets for a year afterward.

They work in melodic techno and melodic house, building tracks around rolling basslines, long arrangements and synth hooks that resolve slowly rather than arriving as sudden drops. A 2017 track, "Uplift," appeared on Solomun's Diynamic label, and their 2018 release "Taboo" spent eleven weeks atop Beatport's deep house chart.

By 2019 they were named Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the DJ Awards, Beatport's best-selling artist, and one of Mixmag's Stars of the Year. In 2021 they started their own label, Upperground, launching it with the single "Flame" and building it into a platform for artists including Miss Monique, MORTEN and Vintage Culture.

In 2023 they recorded their first Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, and the following year released an official remix of The Chemical Brothers' "Hey Boy Hey Girl" and played a stadium show at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu, drawing 8,000 people. They made their first appearance on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list in 2025, entering at number 73.
