Crankdat is the project of Christian Smith, a producer and DJ from Ohio who began releasing music while still a teenager. He built an early following through remixes and edits posted online before moving into original productions. His work sits in the heavier end of festival bass music, drawing on riddim, dubstep and trap, and is characterised by dense, aggressive drops and short, high-impact arrangements.
