Excision is Jeff Abel, a producer and DJ from Kelowna, British Columbia, who has been one of the defining figures in North American bass music since dubstep crossed the Atlantic in the late 2000s. His productions favour extreme low-end distortion and abrupt, mechanical drops, a style often filed under heavy dubstep or riddim, and he has released steadily through his own channels as well as collaborating widely within the scene. He is known as much for his live production as his records: the shows are built around large custom sound systems and synchronised lighting and video, an approach he has developed across successive touring rigs.
