Wakaan founder whose bass music leans psychedelic and genuinely weird rather than purely heavy — label boss of freeform bass's whole ecosystem.

Liquid Stranger is the project of Martin Stääf, a Swedish-born producer and DJ now based in the United States. His output has ranged widely over the years, taking in dub, downtempo and ambient work before shifting toward heavier, more experimental bass music, and his sets tend to move between styles rather than settle in one tempo.

He founded the Wakaan label, which has become a home for producers working in the more abstract and psychedelic corners of American bass music, and he remains closely associated with that scene both as an artist and as a label head.
