Imanu
Dutch producer whose restless, genre-agnostic bass music keeps mutating between releases — precision sound design with zero brand loyalty.
IMANU is the Dutch producer Jonathan Kievit, who began releasing music as a teenager under the name Signal, working in technical drum and bass and neurofunk. He rebranded as IMANU around the end of the 2010s and widened his scope considerably, moving between halftime, experimental bass, club-oriented rhythms and quieter electronic pieces, sometimes across a single release.
The through-line is sound design: dense, precisely edited textures and drums that tend to sit somewhere between organic and synthetic. He has released on labels associated with contemporary bass music and has collaborated with a number of producers from the Dutch and UK scenes.
