Daryl Johns is an American double bassist who began playing jazz as a child and spent his teens performing in jazz settings before moving into pop and rock work. He has spent much of his career as a bass player for other artists, including time in Mac DeMarco's touring band, and his own recordings turn away from straight jazz toward soft, slightly off-kilter lounge and easy-listening pop, arranged in short pieces that leave room for his playing.
