Entropia
Polish group working since 2007 in long, slow-building pieces that push black metal toward dissonance and open space.
Entropia formed in Oleśnica, Poland, in 2007. The group's records sit between black metal and post-metal, with tremolo guitar figures blurred into washes of reverb and passages that hold a single chord long enough for the texture to change around it. Sludge tempos turn up in the heavier stretches, and the dissonant chord voicings keep the melodic parts from resolving cleanly. Tracks tend to run well past the length of a conventional song, built so that the loud sections arrive after several minutes of quieter groundwork.
