Frank Turner
English songwriter who came out of hardcore into acoustic singalongs, touring relentlessly with the Sleeping Souls and a crowd that knows every word.
Turner sang for the post-hardcore band Million Dead before it split in 2005, then began playing solo with an acoustic guitar and a voice that carries better shouted than sung. His songs deal with drinking, friendship, English geography and the business of getting older, written so that rooms can sing the choruses back. Love Ire & Song and England Keep My Bones established him with UK audiences.
He plays with the Sleeping Souls as a full band and alone when the booking calls for it, and he keeps count of his own shows, a total now well into four figures. He also runs the punk-leaning side project Mongol Horde.
