Kevin Morby is an American singer and songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri. He moved to New York as a teenager and first became known as the bassist in Woods and as one half of The Babies before beginning a solo career in the early 2010s. He has since released a steady run of albums, several of them on Dead Oceans.

His songs sit in a folk-rock and singer-songwriter tradition, with plainspoken vocals, unhurried tempos and arrangements that range from solo acoustic to full band with piano, horns and gospel-tinged backing voices. Individual records have been shaped around particular places he has lived, and his writing frequently returns to travel, cities and mortality.
