Mon Rovîa

1 upcoming festival

Liberian-born, Chattanooga-raised songwriter making what he calls Afro-Appalachian folk: soft-spoken banjo songs about displacement and hope.

Mon Rovîa was adopted as a small child during the Liberian civil war and raised by missionary parents in the American South, taking his stage name from the capital city he left behind. He writes with fingerpicked banjo and acoustic guitar, singing in a low, close voice that rarely rises above the accompaniment.

His audience grew largely through short clips posted online, where songs like "To Watch the World Spin Without You" and "Vulture Culture" circulated well ahead of any wider press attention. Four EPs built on the stages of the hero's journey came first, followed by his debut album Bloodline in January 2026. Live, he works mostly acoustic, with the arrangements kept close to the recordings.
