Steph Strings is an Australian guitarist and instrumentalist based in Melbourne. She plays largely instrumental, fingerstyle-based acoustic guitar music, using open and altered tunings along with percussive tapping and body-slapping so that rhythm, bass and melody are handled simultaneously on a single instrument. Her arrangements often build in layers, drawing on blues and folk phrasing while leaning toward long, cyclical grooves rather than conventional song structures. She found much of her early audience through videos of solo performances circulated online, and continues to perform as a solo act.
