Melbourne guitar-pop with Strokes-y snap — Australia's word-of-mouth favorite, tight songs played loose, garage-pop craft beyond their years.

The Belair Lip Bombs formed in Melbourne in 2017, taking their name from a set of 1980s skateboard wheels. Singer, guitarist and keyboardist Maisie Everett leads the group alongside guitarist Mike Bradvica, bassist Jimmy Droughton and drummer Daniel Devlin, all of whom had known each other since school before building a following through local shows and word of mouth.

Fronted by Everett, the band works in a jangling, guitar-forward mode that sits between garage rock, indie rock and power pop, with clean interlocking guitar lines, brisk rhythms and her low, unhurried vocal delivery. Before joining full-time, Everett played bass in Melbourne punk band Clamm, leaving that group in early 2023 to concentrate on the Lip Bombs.

The band released two EPs, a self-titled debut in 2018 and Songs to Do Your Laundry To in 2019, before their debut album Lush Life arrived in August 2023 on the independent label Cousin Will Records. The record's mix of punk, post-punk, jangle pop and new wave drew wider attention, and the band went on to become the first Australian act signed to the Nashville label Third Man Records, who reissued it.

Their second album, Again, followed in October 2025, preceded by singles including "Hey You". Critics responded to the record's broadened sound, and the band supported it with a run of North American dates opening for Spacey Jane, part of a year in which they played dozens of shows. The songs tend to stay short and melodically direct, and the group's live sound stays close to what is on record.
