The Belair Lip Bombs formed in Melbourne in 2017 and built a following through local shows and word of mouth before their recordings reached wider audiences. Fronted by singer and guitarist Maisie Everett, the band works in a jangling, guitar-forward mode that sits between garage rock, indie rock and power pop, with clean interlocking guitar lines, brisk rhythms and Everett's low, unhurried vocal delivery. The songs tend to be short and melodically direct, favouring hooks and momentum over studio embellishment, and the group's live sound stays close to what is on record.
