Australian-born, London-based — psychedelic, live-leaning sets that resist an obvious genre label, texture-heavy techno with a crate-digger's curiosity.

HAAi is the recording and DJ name of Teneil Throssell, who grew up in Western Australia and later settled in London. She came to electronic music from a rock background, having previously fronted the psych band Dark Bells, and that history still shows in the way her productions lean on drone, guitar-like textures and looping repetition rather than straight club functionality.

She built her reputation through a long-running residency in London and through DJ sets that move between tempos and styles without much regard for genre boundaries. Her own tracks, released on Mute, sit somewhere between techno, breakbeat and psychedelia, often layering her processed vocals over restless percussion. Live, she works with hardware and effects as much as records, and the results tend to be looser and noisier than the studio versions.
