Roman Flügel
German producer with a thirty-year catalogue and a taste for the deliberately odd — house and techno with an art-school wink.
Roman Flügel has been a fixture of German electronic music since the 1990s, working out of the Frankfurt and Darmstadt area. Much of his early output came through partnerships with Jörn Elling Wuttke, first as Acid Jesus and later as Alter Ego, whose track "Rocker" became one of the more widely heard pieces of electro-house of its era. He was also closely involved with the Klang Elektronik and Playhouse labels.
Under his own name he has released the club single "Geht's noch?" and a run of albums for Dial and Running Back that range from beatless ambient sketches to straightforward floor material. His DJ sets tend to move between house, techno and electro without settling, and his productions often carry a dry, slightly absurd sense of humour.
