John-Robert is a singer and songwriter who grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and began releasing music as a teenager. He works in a spare folk-pop mode, with a high, largely unprocessed voice carrying most of the weight over fingerpicked guitar, and his songs draw on small-town details and the awkwardness of adolescence. His output has come mainly in the form of short EPs rather than full-length albums.
