Hixxy is the working name of Ian Hicks, an English DJ and producer who has been a central figure in UK happy hardcore since the mid-1990s. He is most closely identified with the Bonkers compilation series, which he mixed alongside other hardcore DJs and which introduced a large audience to the genre.
His productions and sets are built on the familiar hardcore template of fast breakbeats, sped-up vocal samples and long piano and trance-derived melodic sections, aimed squarely at the rave floor. He has also run labels within the scene and continues to perform across the UK hardcore circuit.
