RIIZE
SM Entertainment boy group launched in 2023, working a lighter, guitar-flecked strain of K-pop on singles like "Get A Guitar" and "Love 119."
RIIZE debuted in September 2023, the first new boy group from SM Entertainment in seven years. Two of its members arrived with careers already underway: Shotaro and Sungchan had both been part of NCT before transferring to the new lineup. Anton, another member, is the son of the South Korean singer and producer Yoon Sang. Seunghan left the group in 2024.
The group's early releases leaned on live-band textures and clean vocal arrangements rather than the heavier sounds common elsewhere in the field, and SM described the approach as emotional pop. One of RIIZE's best known songs builds on izi's 2005 ballad "Emergency Room," a track familiar to Korean listeners long before the group existed.
