Space Laces is the project of American producer Ben Fitzgerald, based in Louisville, Kentucky. He first drew attention for heavily engineered bass music that moves between dubstep, electro house and complextro, characterised by dense layering, abrupt transitions and drum sounds cut with unusual clarity. His work has appeared through Never Say Die and Excision's Rottun-adjacent circles, and he has collaborated with Excision on a number of tracks. Among bass producers he is often cited as a reference point for sound design rather than for volume of output, since releases arrive relatively infrequently.
