Sound design used as a blunt instrument — heavy, surgically precise dubstep from a producer other producers study.

Space Laces is the project of American producer Ian Slider, based in Louisville, Kentucky. He first produced music under the alias cornandbeans before retiring it around 2008 and moving into the dubstep and bass music he is known for today.

His work moves between dubstep, electro house and complextro, marked by dense layering, abrupt transitions and drum sounds cut with unusual clarity. Releases have arrived relatively infrequently, and among bass producers he is often cited as a reference point for sound design rather than output.

Slider was a frequent collaborator of Canadian producer Excision through the 2010s, including in the group Destroid, and released his debut EP, Overdrive, on Never Say Die Records in 2018, featuring the Getter collaboration "Choppaz." A further EP, High Vaultage, followed on the label in 2022.

After Never Say Die closed in 2022, Slider founded his own label, High Vaultage Records, opening it with the single "Survive" in January 2023. He also issues the Vaultage series, continuous mixes of unreleased music, with a fourth installment arriving in December 2025.

He is also a member of two collaborative groups, Hivemind with Must Die! and Kayzo, and Masterhand with Eptic and Svdden Death. Recent outside collaborations include tracks with DJ Snake, Marshmello and Skrillex, whose album track "Recovery" featured his production.
