The Jerry Douglas Band
The greatest dobro player alive, full stop — fourteen Grammys and counting.
Jerry Douglas, born in Warren, Ohio, is a resonator guitar player whose work has shaped the instrument's role in modern acoustic music. He came up through bluegrass, playing with the Country Gentlemen and J.D. Crowe & the New South, and spent years as a member of Alison Krauss and Union Station. He is also part of the Earls of Leicester, a group devoted to the Flatt and Scruggs repertoire, and has appeared on a very large number of sessions as a sideman and producer.
The Jerry Douglas Band is his own ensemble, and gives him room to move outside bluegrass proper into jazz phrasing, swing and instrumental writing built around the dobro's sustain and slide.
