A mandolin virtuoso since childhood, now writing songs that justify the technique — bluegrass pedigree stretched into something personal.

Sierra Hull is a mandolin player, singer and songwriter from Byrdstown, Tennessee. She began performing as a child and was recognised early within the bluegrass world, later studying at Berklee College of Music. She has been named mandolin player of the year by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

Her playing combines bluegrass technique with harmonic ideas drawn from jazz and contemporary acoustic music, and her more recent albums move away from strict traditional forms toward original songwriting with a broader arrangement palette. She also works frequently as a session and touring musician alongside other acoustic players.
