Afie Jurvanen's project: unhurried guitar figures, soul-schooled backing harmonies and lyrics delivered with a straight face and a dry joke inside.

Bahamas is the recording name of Afie Jurvanen, a Canadian guitarist who played in Feist's band before releasing his own records. His songs are built on clean, fingerpicked electric guitar with a lot of space in the arrangements, and he sings in a relaxed baritone, usually answered by two female backing vocalists. The writing is plainspoken and often deadpan, with lines about domestic life and self-doubt delivered without raising his voice. 'Lost in the Light' is the song that reached the widest audience.
