Brian Fallon is the singer, guitarist and songwriter of The Gaslight Anthem, the New Jersey band that built its reputation on punk-informed heartland rock. The Painkillers are the backing band he assembled for his solo work during the group's hiatus in the mid-2010s. The songs lean further toward classic American rock and roll and soul than his main band's material, with the same narrative approach: characters, cars, radios and reminiscence, sung in a roughened voice that invites the obvious Springsteen comparisons. Fallon has also recorded with the side projects The Horrible Crowes and Molly and the Zombies.
