Foxy Shazam formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, and built a reputation on theatrical hard rock fronted by Eric Nally, whose wide-ranging voice and unpredictable stage behaviour anchor the band's live shows. The lineup's use of trumpet and prominent piano gives the music a vaudevillian streak alongside the guitars.
Their songs draw on glam rock and 1970s arena rock, with big choruses, dramatic vocal leaps and arrangements that lean toward spectacle. The band went on hiatus for several years before returning to recording and touring.
