Chilean songwriter Daniel Riveros, whose pop is built on Andean rhythms and small homemade arrangements rather than studio gloss.

Gepe is Daniel Riveros, a songwriter from Santiago who emerged in the early 2000s alongside Javiera Mena and others in the Chilean independent scene. His debut, Gepinto, was made largely with guitar, drum machine and voice, and the records that followed gradually brought in cueca and altiplano rhythms, brass and charango, without losing the small scale of the arrangements. On Folclor Imaginario he sang Chilean traditional songs in versions drawn from Margot Loyola's arrangements. He sings in Spanish throughout, in a light, slightly nasal voice that sits close to the microphone.
